... and Now for Something Completely Different

I had a chance to see a musical on Friday night based on the Santa Claus bank robbery, probably the most notable historical event to ever occur in my home town of Cisco, Texas. The robbery, which occurred on December 23, 1927, happened at a time when it was common for men and women to carry firearms AND when a $5,000 reward was being offered for anyone who shot a bank robber in the act.

According to the dialog in the musical, more than 100 rounds were discharged as the robbers attempted to escape from the bank.

My favorite part of the musical? Just before intermission, the cast handed out ping pong ball guns to the entire audience and encouraged us to open fire on the robbers as they exited the bank!

The next five minutes was the most fun that I think I've ever had at a dinner theater.
