Hear the Sound of Music, Do You?
Our girls have discovered the 1964 film version of The Sound of Music of DVD, and they are quickly learning the lyrics to all of the songs. I now expect to experience a sing-along session just about every time our family gets in the minivan to drive for more than five minutes.
The Sound of Music is - of course - a timeless musical, but its interesting to observe the points-of-reference that the girls use to compare the film. Last night, for example, one of the girls was comparing the wisdom dispensed from the Reverend Mother at the outset of the film to that of Yoda.
"Hold a moonbeam in your hand, can you? Eh? A problem like Maria, solve you cannot."
Only the daughters of an overly enthusiastic Star Wars nut would make such comparisons.

I don't think I've ever considered comparing Reverend Mother to Yoda - it is an interesting thought, to be sure!
