A Time for Solitude

I'm starting another week of my thrice-annual pattern of hibernation today. Inherently, I am a person who requires lots of solitude to remain sane, and I get very little of that in my field of work, so this is a pretty important time for me to just recharge and refocus. It readies me for the busy fall, which will include lots of soccer and a packed daily schedule.

I'll probably spend a lot of my time playing Madden 06, Civ Cal to Power II (an older, but very fun variation on the Civilization series), and - next week - Dungeon Seige II. Probably will also play some board games with the kids and read a little more McLaren. And, of course, a few late night DVD rentals.

I'm pretty sure that I'll feel like blogging some during this time. The next post in the Untangling series is pretty much finished, and it will probably go up this weekend.

In the meantime, a few other random notes:
1. I would really hate to be this guy today.
2. Jeff Deyo's Surrender is growing on me every day. Its quickly becoming one of my favorite live worship albums. Deyo and the guys in his band are not only gifted musicians, but they also understand a thing or two about how to lead people to the throne of God.
3. Last night, I listened to the Newsboys' Beautiful Sound. I had an idea about just taking the chorus from that song and singing it over and over again, with variations on the instrumentation. United Live does a lot of that. I think I'm going to experiment with that a little this week, to see what can be done with it.
4. The british TV version of the new Galactica is on DVD (first season) now. Has anyone bought/watched it yet? I'm thinking about getting the American version when it comes out next month.
5. Yes! Football returns tomorrow night when the 'Boys take on the Cardinals. I know, I know. Its just preseason. But - by this time of the year - I'll even be excited to watch my team's third-stringers take on the other team's third-stringers.
