Seething at the Checkout Line
I hope you'll excuse me. I'm a little upset right now. You see, I went into a grocery store during my lunch break and got worked up when I started reading the magazine covers at the checkout line.
That DENISE RICHARDS. Ooooooh! She makes me SO angry!! How DARE she steal Heather Locklear's love interest!? Completely shameless. How can she live with herself?I can only hope that Heather is getting all of the support that she needs right now from friends and family.
On a more positive note - Brad and Angelina's baby will be here soon! I'm so excited!
Oops! I've got to go now - EXTRA is going to be on any minute, and I REALLY need to know whether Ashlee Simpson has recently had plastic surgery...

1. This post totally busted me up. We had a "celebrity discussion" in class recently about Christian celebrities. Someone mentioned that Evangeline Lilly shouldn't tell people she was a Christian if she was going to be known as someone with a foul mouth. I answered that I was glad my walk wasn't being assessed under the glow of the paparazzi. I wouldn't hold up too well.
2. Your post yesterday changed some long-held views of mine. As a public school teacher, I've always felt that education was best left in the hands of the professionals. Kind of like the old saying about the layman who defends himself in court having a fool for a lawyer. But there are exceptions and your example really pointed that out. There is some excellent curriculum out there for home-schoolers and, while I still believe that professionals offer some advantages, there may be an even greater advantage to having a teacher who loves you more than anything.
3. In answer to the elder's age question, I think if people are being honest, they will say around 50. But my guess is that the average answer will be around 42. Your comments over there are excellent and thought-provoking. How will the old-boy's-club treat me when I try and break in? Or will they even let me, since I've been divorced. We have one elder who is still misinterpreting that whole "husband of one wife" thing. Hanging on tooth and nail.
Oh and by the way, my niece finally decided on ACU. I hope you'll meet her and treat her with the kindness of a distant uncle when she starts coming to Highland.
Thanks, Thurm. I never cease to be amazed at how people will get obsessed with the lives of complete strangers. Then, I just get mad (really mad, not mad in a mocking way) at the way it all goes to these people's heads. Suddenly, they think they're all that because of the media attention they get.
For those who have no clue what item 3 is about - you might want to check out the discussion on the "minimum age" for elders at Thurm's blog: http://intentionalwalk.blogspot.com/2006/05/heres-topic-discuss-amongst-yourselves.html
